1249412 2011-12-19 09:14:00 Really ?? OK heres the full story ---

So as a smoker do you think it was OK to smoke in someones house when you know full well that the normal occupants are non smokers ??

It was me that politely asked the smoker to go out side, twice -- they seemed to think it was their right to smoke inside my house even when asked not to. The person who decided to take action also suggested that they do as requested, the smoker laughed and blew smoke in his face and said "so what you gonna do about it".

Frankly the simple fact the person only told him to leave was actually lucky for him, as I have known the guy many years and he was lucky he didn't give the smoker a knuckle sandwich.

Many smokers dont give a hoot about others. As far as they are concerned they are doing no wrong -- but thats just the mentality of some people who when it comes down to it are hooked on a legal drug.

Some people who smoke are more considerate, and those people are fine.read again wainui, the actions of your guest(the smoker) were disgusting, I presumed he was your guest as he was in your house

1249413 2011-12-19 09:27:00 Well the pubs should have to pay for a drift test for any outdoor filthy smoking area say closer than 20 metres to the establishment.
The smoking area should be then moved to comply so its pollutants wont poison the normal drinkers. Possibly moved to a preferable position like the middle of a busy road.
Personally I have had a gutsfull of getting the second hand smoke from smokers. Its really akin to assault.

Utter tripe.

Had you lived 50 years ago, you would have thought nothing of it, now the fashion is to be rediculous abut second hand smoke.

In other words it the sheep mentality, which clearly you are subject to.

That sounds like you invited a complete tool into your house, you're probably lucky he was a smoker or he might have been pissing everywhere instead ...

That person sounds like a jerk, I don't know why you said they'd be welcome back.

1249416 2011-12-19 10:42:00 So Wainui I did not smoke when I got to your place and I never do smoke in a non smoking area.

I may have stunk in your opinion though but I would not know that unless you or your Wife told me so.

1249417 2011-12-19 18:56:00 read again wainui, the actions of your guest(the smoker) were disgusting, I presumed he was your guest as he was in your house I didn't invite the person personally. I was asked by one other person who was invited if they could bring a friend, I knew who the person was but didn't really know him on a one to one basis. It was swmbo that said he could return if he stay outside while smoking. The person that got nasty and told him to leave was in fact the person who asked if he could come in the first place.

Just this weekend we were at a persons place, one person who I have known for over twenty years was there and is a heavy smoker, he came and sat down beside me, which was fine as we get on OK, but man he stunk of smoke, after 5 minutes the stink was to much - I moved.

This thread is a laugh really-- I notice NO SMOKER has actually answered the question I asked before a couple of posts back.
Why do you go out side to have a smoke -- why not simply light up where ever you may be, regardless of if its your own house, business or someone else's place ?

Why is that I wonder

Because I don't have a right to impose my lifestyle choices on others.
It would be nice if some non-smokers understood how that concept works.

We do. That's why I avoid smokers where possible.

There has to be something wrong when Prefect starts to cough when he sees someone smoking through a telescope.
