get a Sony Reader.

I have both, and the best of both worlds :)

Why not from DSE?

and why the Sony reader?

Bearing in mind I want the easiest content delivery possible, if its even a slight pain in the arse it won't be used.

We have bought both from Amazon since it is cheaper even with freight included. Hope we don't get struck with duty though, we didn't for the first one. Funny thing though, they wouldn't let us buy a cover for it since they won't ship these overseas. DSE covers looked cheap except for the leather one, which was dear ($70) but there are some good ones available on TradeMe for a reasonable price, including the ones Amazon won't sell us. I recommend a cover, also known as a wallet or folio, not a case. The former attaches to the Kindle and makes it feel like a book as you hold it to read, also protecting it when not in use. The cases are simply bags to protect them.

1249059 2011-12-19 06:03:00 You need to do your own research.

DSE is overpriced and only sells the bottom lined models :(

Yeah, You need to not offer "advice" if your not willing or capable of backing it up.

Price and model was compared earlier and deemed fine.

1249061 2011-12-19 06:38:00 Rather than be a pompous prick, do what I did and research the different models available.

I thought that you were a big man capable of looking after yourself - well that is the impression that you like to portray.

I'm dammed if I am going to do your homework for you.

1249062 2011-12-19 06:59:00 Righto, Twats aside, Kindle from DSE looks to be a suitable purchase. Metla (12)

Keep it nice please.

If your old man is likely to want to borrow books from your local library, it may be an idea to check whether the Kindle will play nicely with it - apparently some libraries won't work with Kindle, don't know why.

Secondly, it is dead easy to get books via Kindle on any Android based reader as well as the Kindle reader - you just download and install the Kindle app from the Android Market. That works with both my Sony Reader and Galaxy S2 (I no longer use the latter as a reader - too small). You can also download Kindle for PC and buy books through your PC, and then load them onto your ereader but I wouldn't recommend that for your Pa if he is a bit gunshy technically speaking. You can end up with a Kindle book that is licensed to the wrong device and therefore unreadable on the Kindle because of DRM.

1249065 2011-12-19 09:18:00 What a bad mannered bounder that Zip chap is.

Remember the dictum, if you have nothing nice to say, say nowt.

In other words be like Metla and me.
