I like this idea. Or take her PC off her.....until she learns.

1271248 2012-04-22 21:50:00 A lot of families won't allow teenagers PC's in their rooms because there's just no way to effectively monitor what they get up to on them. A family PC in a public part of the house is one solution. If she has a laptop make her leave it somewhere outside her bedroom at night.

If you're not worried about that maybe just hook your own machine up by ethernet so you can just turn of wi-fi after bed time without dropping your own connection.

This works...i caught my daughter doing exactly the same thing. They have no idea about responsibility or consequences. It is a pain but you have no other choice except confiscating the laptop

EDIT: i just take the power supply to bed, easier than unplugging the router...and its warm ;)

Certainly easier, but then I'd be worried if someone tried a different power supply with wrong voltage\polarity and blew up the router.

That's most certainly a more permanent "solution" to the issue then I suppose ;)

1271252 2012-04-23 11:07:00 Maybe a little old fashioned discipline wouldn't harm! Who is the boss in your house anyway, and who pays for the Broadband? Charge them from their pocket money for using the Internet. mzee (3324)

Better still, if they're disobedient, don't give them any ;)

1271254 2012-04-24 04:28:00 Simply change the WPA password on the router at night tmrafi (5179)

As you do

1271256 2012-04-26 08:01:00 If they are using wireless, you can set up a MAC address blacklist that you can easily turn on & off. It is called the "Access Control List" in the wireless settings. Greven (91)
