See how it works on this youtube video. www.youtube.com

You can set it up to block anything and its password protected.

1271238 2012-04-22 09:54:00 Some modems let you block internet access at certain hours to certain mac addresses. Depends on what router you have. icow (15313)
1271239 2012-04-22 10:00:00 What sort of router have you got? Renmoo (66)

Does not have parental control onboard, regretfully.

Also, the IP address on the network changes when the kids switch on their notebooks. Wonder how I could make that static.

1271242 2012-04-22 11:24:00 By the looks of it, it doesnt have URL filtering. So, you'll have to use whatever program in OSX. Or install a separate program. Or remove it from the net. You need to go to the network option and give it an ip address Speedy Gonzales (78)
1271243 2012-04-22 11:25:00 You could get yourself a cheap access point and throw Tomato or Gargoyle on it. They both allow you to set access control times for a device. Works wonders for a family friend who has kids that always used to try and stay up late online gaming :p Not anymore thou! Chilling_Silence (9)

There is a setting in those boxes where you can set the lease time to 999 years. I think that will outlive your daughter -

1271245 2012-04-22 12:20:00 Unplug the router and put it under your bed

But if that would inconvenience you as well, I guess you'll have to run some kind of software to block it. Host-based might be OK but would be easier to circumvent. Something like Gargoyle as Chilling suggested would be a good idea, I think.

1271246 2012-04-22 20:47:00 Agree with Chilling there, buy a cheap router that can take tomato, plug it into a spare port on the netcom and configure it to block sites at certain times etc. Either that or replace the netcom with a new router with tomato and create rules on a per MAC address basis (if it can do that) The Error Guy (14052)
