1248539 2011-12-14 09:14:00 Twice now I have got on the plane with my shoes still on and my person un-x-rayed ;) R2x1 (4628)
1248540 2011-12-14 18:13:00 CCleaner once a week, Spybot once a month. Cicero (40)
1248541 2011-12-14 18:25:00 It's my duty every Friday night after a few beers ... turn off system restore, run CCleaner (1 stubby), Spybot (2 stubby), Malwarebytes (3 Stubby), SuperAnitspyware (4 Stubby), and MSSE (1 stubby quick scan - 2 for a full) ... then, because I'm running XP, I also use Defraggler.

I must admit that I am usually quite Fraggled myself by the time I start Defraggler and forget to switch System restore back on ... but hey, that's Saturday mornings job anyway ... :D

How often do you find malware / a virus? Is this on a number of PCs at work, or a home PC?

It has been a long time since any sort of malware has been found on our home PCs, and 2 or 3 years since a nasty of any consequence was found.

1248542 2011-12-14 19:30:00 Can't remember the last time my wife and I did a manual scan. Probably about as often as Metla does. I'm not entirely sure we even have AV currently since putting in our SSDs? Chilling_Silence (9)
1248543 2011-12-14 19:51:00 Maybe the occasional virus scan of C: and an update of Malwarebytes once in a while. Probably every 6-12 months.

I haven't done a full AV scan in many years. It just takes way too long :D

1248544 2011-12-14 19:55:00 So can we assume there are less virii about, or what? Cicero (40)
1248545 2011-12-14 20:13:00 I'd suggest things are moving from the traditional virus / trojans to more spyware / malware. Chilling_Silence (9)

Home PC and I have kids using the computer all the time ... don't find many viruses or Trojans ... Spyware & Adware are a different story. Kids go to some dodgy sites at times. Last one was a patch for a programme one of the kids wanted and downloaded it from a dodgy site ... had a keylogger attached and MSSE picked it up once it was downloaded.

Anyway ... I have to give SWMBO'd some sort of reason to get fraggled on a Friday night ... :D

CCleaner once a week

Ccleaner runs automatically every day.

Why is CCleaner mentioned in a thread about security checks? It's not an anti-malware program whatsoever...
