1271899 2012-04-25 21:08:00 I have an old computer(Mac) with about 50gb of music on it and im not totally sure how to transfur it to my new computer(Windows). I have tried connecting an external hadrive that I have used timemachine on to transfur the files but it will not work. And OSX wont write to NTFS formatted drives. So is there some way I could get the music off my ipod and onto the pc or and easy way to send the files over? Slankydudl (16687)
1271900 2012-04-25 23:02:00 Put iTunes on the windows machine then connect your iPod to it an sync it. Easy. There are other ways if you do not like iTunes. CliveM (6007)
1271901 2012-04-26 07:53:00 Um if i sync it, it will erase all data from my ipod. Im trying to get music off my ipod and onto my pc. Slankydudl (16687)
1271902 2012-04-26 08:08:00 There are plenty of program's that allow windows to read a mac drive and vice versa, does the new pc have FireWire? If set the mac up in target disc mode and it will show up on the pc a a external drive. plod (107)
1271903 2012-04-26 08:09:00 Generally if you bought music off your ipod and want to transfer it onto itunes and the ipod doesnt sync then you need to restore your ipod and it will erase all the music which cannot retrived. Use bump and send it to another i device then try transfering or if you have ios 5 then use icloud but you will need a heap of data to transfer over wifi and it may take about a day. stratex5 (16685)
1271904 2012-04-26 09:12:00 Well with all my ios devices it says that if i sync it it will erase all data from my ipod and replace it with the data thats on the windows machine. And iv tried a few programs to do it but they all seem to have a limit of 100 songs if you dont pay. And i cannot connect with firewire as the mac is locked to a desk and after 7 years the key has dissappeared :P. I think i will try using the time machine drive then. Also can i save my music to somewhere other than my c drive because i only have 20gb of free space. Slankydudl (16687)
1271905 2012-04-26 09:22:00 Save it anywhere stratex5 (16685)
1271906 2012-04-26 09:24:00 Use bump to transfer your music to another ipod if you have one the sync that device or else use something like dropbox but it will use alot of data or icloud which is same concept. stratex5 (16685)
1271907 2012-04-26 09:24:00 Assuming the music you want is on the ipod get sharepod for windows and use that to rip the music from the ipod. Why not just reformat the hdd as fat32 temporarily so the mac can write to it? icow (15313)
