1249188 2011-12-17 21:10:00 If it can't get Freeview at all that probably means it has no input sockets whatsoever, which would be odd. :p pcuser42 (130)
1249189 2011-12-17 21:21:00 Should do Freeview with the normal RF input ... maybe just doesn't have the HDMI input, but it would have to be an extremely cheap brand and probably quite old stock I would imagine. Most Freeview boxes have both RF, HDMI and other output modes, so shouldn't be a problem.

Get the make & model Beetle ... then Google it or ask someone in the store who knows what they're talking about ... or post the info back on here.

1249191 2011-12-17 21:25:00 Yeah, as long as your decoder has the appropriate hookups any TV should be able to use the Freeview signal.
Bare minimum requirement, the old coaxial RF socket. Better still the 3 yellow, red, white composite plugs (or is that 'component - I always confuse those two). If there's only yellow and one other then it's lacking stereo, but is still ok.

What the sellers may have meant was not HD suitable (ie lower resolution), but odds are they're lacking an adequate understanding of the whole thing themselves (and the retailers will be taking full advantage of thousands of us in the same state of confusion).

1249194 2011-12-17 22:00:00 So Beetle, do you want to record Freeview?

If so then get a TV that's not Freeview and a Freeview decoder/recorder.
