When I try and download an update such as the latest security patch from microsoft the install part of things stops running. I have also suffered from the same problem using Nortons System Works 2001. I can download other programmes and install these myself such as screensavers etc. Have I possibly disabled something I shouldn't have?
I have auto update turned on and recieved an install reminder from Microsoft but after clicking update the programme did nothing. |

In IE go to Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and look to see if the 'Enable Install on Demand' box is checked, if not check it. Maybe that is the problem. |

Thanks Terry but that's not the problem. I have install on demand enabled. I can download and install other programmes, only not microsoft windows updates. If it is any help to anyone I'm running Windows Me and my System restore feature also fails to respond to restore to an earlier date. It starts off okay but then stops in it's tracks and does nothing at all. |
