| 10751 | 2001-04-02 04:42:00 | My husband has an Artec Pentium 11 with 32 mb ram. I need to format it for him but am not sure of the procedure. My PC is an HP and came bundled with system recovery disks etc. He is running ME installed over windows 98. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Fay |

| 10753 | 2001-04-03 06:16:00 | Fay, You can format hard disk with following procedure: 1. Make a startup disk for win-98. Procedure: Have a 1.44 MB floppy disk. Get it formatted. Put disk in drive. Then press START tab, press SETTINGS, press Add/remove software, press Startup disk, press Create Disk, and you will get your startup disk ready. 2. Now restart your computer and press f2 or f1 or f10 whichever takes you to your bios setting. Then check in the boot sequence setting of your PC. It must be set A,C,and then any drive. If it is not so then change it by on screen instructions. Now save new settings and exit. 3. Restart your PC by putting your startup disk floppy in the drive. This time your PC is being booted by your startup disk floppy. Unlike Normal window setup. while asking to start the computer with a CD rom support chose any option it hardly matters. After system boots up type 'FORMAT :C \S' press enter. After a warning massage you can press 'yes' and your hard disk will be formatted and system files to boot PC from hard disk will be transfered to your PC. 4. Now switch off your PC. Take the Start up disk out of drive. 5. Switch it on and again press same F1 or F2 or F10 key to go to bios setting. Make boot sequence same as it was before last change i.e. CD Rom, C, A . 6. Warning No other bios setting should be changed untill you are sure of it. 7. Save and exit from bios setting. 8. Put your Windows recovery CD Rom in to drive. Restart your PC. It will automatically start loading windows to your PC. With on screen guide. 9. Have lot of petiatent with you before doing all this excercise because all this may take from one hour to two hour time, and some frustration also. 10. Have fun doing things with your own hands and also enjoy. 11. Read instructions and note them on a paper and if not clear do not start until assured. Ved. |

| 10754 | 2001-04-03 08:33:00 | The command to format drive C and also transfer system files (most necessary) to this drive is not format c:\s as you have been advised. Use a forward slash not a back slash. Thus the correct command is format c:/s You can use either upper or lower case leters. | Guest (0) | ||
