| 10708 | 2001-04-01 01:35:00 | Windows doesn't seem to recognise my LPT1 port. DOS based programs print to it fine (doesn't matter which printer I hook up), but Windows95 won't. It comes up with various error messages mostly along the lines of 'error printing to LPT1,check printer configured for a valid port' type of thing. I've tried fiddling with the BIOS settings - EPP, ECP, SPP, makes no difference. Coincidentally the computer also has an LPT2 card that is not working in any mode. Any ideas? |

Are there any error flags there? Is there an IRQ conflict for example? Sometimes you can get a conflict with the sound card on IRQ 5. My system uses IRQ 7 for the LPT1 port. A good idea might be to remove the LPT2 card if it is not being used. Many systems run short of Interrupts so remove superfluous hardware. Good luck. |
