| 10705 | 2001-04-01 02:05:00 | I was mucking around trying to get an old 486 going and inadvertantly booted with 2 HDD set as master on one IDE channel. Now my old faithful Seagate 420Mb HDD is only seen as 22Mb by windows and DOS. I have tried fdisk in DOS and the 'format' command in Windows but it's still seen as 22Mb. What can I do to get my drive back to 420MB? Any and all help much appreciated. Thanks, shaun. |

I.E, reboot with the DOS startup disk in the drive, cancel the installation attempt. This will bing you to the A:\ prompt. Enter <format c:\> (without the < >) at the DOS prompt. Voila, you're ready to install whatever. (Win98 not reccommended on a 486) | Guest (0) | ||
