I have been playing with installing an early version of Win95 (on floppies) on an IBM ValuePoint PC which has been running Win 3.11 fine. System is 486SX (no overdrive chip), 16MB, 520MB HD. Hard drive formats OK and system boots from floppy or from HD with system files installed. However, attempting to install Win95 is OK until the screen 'Windows is now preparing the Instal Wizard etc', at which point the system reads from the floppy drive and writes to the HD endlessly with no further action - 2hrs is the maximum time my patience could handle. |

Hi Graeme,
I'm expect it is possible to get this working, but really, how much time do you want to spend on such a decrepid old machine like this? If you want help on windows, try using the search option on the microsoft site. Search in the technet and knowledge base sections and I'm sure your answer will be in there. |

Thanks - I regard the time as worthwhile if I learn something, But there has to be a break-even point! |
