10896 2001-04-05 22:17:00 P III 733, 128 Mb mem, 56k ext Dynalink, both iHug Ultra and plain dial up to Paradise. Using IE 5.5 and updates. Getting normal operation BUT with regular periods of inactivity lasting a couple of minutes when nothing happens in IE, but can check mail on different accounts with Xtra, iHug, Paradise, and Hotmail okay. Any idea what causes this problem. (Had it same in prev PC for a while, but it came right). Thanks for any tips. Guest (0)
10897 2001-04-05 22:36:00 hi john.did you have the same modem with the last puter. As the problem is an intermittent,1st look has to be at the interface to the net.Since conexant was sold and conexant started putting their chip set in,it is not nearly as reliable as when Dynaling used their set.In fact the pci vers. is a disaster.Perhaps worth having telecom check your line also,to ensure the data flow back to the isp.All the best.Alister Guest (0)

10899 2001-04-05 22:45:00 Thanks Alister. I am using 'good' external 56k V1456VQE Dynalink - have tried 2 of them. Performance is good for a few minutes then halts for a couple of minutes. (Right now as I go to post this, I click on the POST button, it depresses, but I can expect to wait a couple of minutes before it will process!) Guest (0)
