| 11200 | 2001-04-11 23:15:00 | Seem to have a recent problem with Defrag & Scandisk. Running a Pentium 200 with 128Mb RAM and Windows 98SE. I can Scandisk in Dos mode, but in Windows both Scandisk and Defrag lock up straight away and then a error message appears- 'Terminating thread due to a stack overflow problem. Vxd has consumed too much stack space. Increase the setting of 'MinSP's in system.ini or remove recently installed Vxds.' etc The first thing I did was to look in system.ini but could not see any reference to MinSp's - is this a typical Windows vague reference? - a bit like 'your cars broke, and to fix it look under the bonnet'. I then ran the scanreg /opt as detailed on page 105 of the April issue on the 'maybe it will fix it' assumption - no change. I have disabled NAV anywhere I can find it - still no change. I have run 'msconfig' and disabled practically everything - nothing. I'm sure its something simple, but What? Would really appreciate your help / can you point me in the right direction. Need to defrag cause the kids have been scanning photos all over and the hard drive is / was getting full. Thanks |
