| 11181 | 2001-04-11 11:25:00 | Hi I am building a PC and I am getting this error on startup. Floppy disc(s) failure (40) Can anyone tell me what this means? I have never come across a floppy failure in any of the other PC's I have built so I don't have much idea as to what could cause this. I am assuming that the (40) is the error number but I really don;t know. Thanks for the help. |

| 11183 | 2001-04-11 12:40:00 | I have checked and rechecked the cable and tried all variations I could think of with the cable positioning. The drive is getting power as the led goes on so its not that cord. I know if the led stays on then there is a cable on wrong, so I know I got the cables right. It boots up as normal the cd rom is found then the floppy fails I see the computer accessing the floppy drive because the led goes on briefly as it is susposed too but it still fails. Any help appreciated. |

| 11185 | 2001-04-12 00:34:00 | I did look in the BIOS/CMOS but I don't really know where specifically to look. I couldn't see anything obvious but I don't really have much experience in that area. | Guest (0) | ||
