| 11267 | 2001-04-13 05:00:00 | Hello, I have Win98SE and I have tried to get into my help screen but a dialogue box says it can't locate the 'windows.chm' file. In the System Information tools help it says cannot locate the windows hlp.file and I can't seem to open any help files. I am prompted to reinstall them off the Win98 CD but I don't know how or if some other solution is better. Any ideas? Secondly my System File Checker says my User.exe file may be corrupted and to restore it from the CD but because I think it is a cab. file (Win98_42.cab)? it won't restore it. Is it necessary to restore it, my computer seems to work ok without it and I don't even know what it is for. Should I just leave it alone? Yours Martin |

As to your other problem, going from my previous experience with my computer, I had a simlar problem. When I got my PC new it had that and other problems. All I could put it down to is that the people I brought it off had not loaded Win98 properly. After much (heated) dicussion with them. They put Win98SE on my PC and I made then test it properly before returning it to me. Hopefully this is not your case. I would suggest you get someone you trust who knows a bit about Win98 to have a look at it. |
