| 11505 | 2001-04-18 10:07:00 | Someone might create an excel spreadsheet and either use the file-sharing options or protected passwords for read/write etc. When there are a few users accessing it as you would expect the file seems to change its properties so that even the creator of the file can no longer get write access- even when no-one has it open.. This happens often and it needs a Save as- option to fix it. Often we are saving-as every day. Any ideas | Guest (0) | ||
| 11506 | 2001-04-20 01:42:00 | Hi John, try running netwatch from the NT4.0 resource kit. It may help you find out who's computer is retaining a file-lock on the spreadsheet. NT is usually quite fast at releasing locks when a file is closed, so it may be a flakey copy of Excel or a virus causing this problem. |
