11544 2001-04-19 03:07:00 I've set up the network card and their drivers on both PCs running Win 98 and Win Me. After going thru the networking wizard on the Me, I've created a setup disk to set up the network with the other PC using Win 98. However, there is no connections between the two. What's went wrong? How can I set up the network mannully? Thank you. Guest (0)
11545 2001-04-20 02:20:00 Hi William,
Check in the device manager on both machines to ensure there are no problems with the newly added network cards. Connect the computers with either a cross-over cable or a hub.
Go into networking properties and install client for microsoft networks, and the netbeui protocol. Make the computers both members of the same workgroup. If you want to play multiplayer LAN games you will also need the tcp/ip protocol. If one of the computers is connecting to the internet, make sure file and print sharing is switched off on that machine. If you need to provide ip addresses for tcp/ip use 192.168.1.* with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 where '*' is a unique number from 1 to 254 excluding 127

11546 2001-04-21 00:54:00 I've used idential network cards with cross cable, installed both the netbeui and tcp/ip protocol, and set up the ip address as well. Both the computers have unique names and share the same workgroup.

However, I still cannot connect the two computers. Preheps somethings wrong with my other computer with Win 98, because I cannot find 'Network Neighborhood' and to search computers on the network. Any clues?
