| 11593 | 2001-04-20 02:17:00 | Hi I am looking for a quick way of turning the screen saver off and back on again. For when i am de-fagging and scanning for virus. Hopefully just double-click an icon on the deck top to de-active the screen saver and double-click to re-active it. Any help is better than no help. Cheer Wayne |

Now create a shortcut to it:Right-click and drag the *.scr file onto the desktop or Start menu (or anywhere else you want it), release the mouse button, and select Create Shortcut(s) Here. Need to step away from your desk? Double-click the shortcut, and the screen saver kicks in immediately. Invoke Screen Saver using Keyboard: Want even faster access to that screen saver, right from your keyboard? Set up hot key access to the shortcut you just created.Right-click the screen saver shortcut, select Properties, and in the resulting dialogue box, click the Shortcut tab. Click once in the text box next to Shortcut Key to place the cursor there, then type the letter you'd like to use in combination with Ctrl-Alt to invoke your screen saver. Click OK. Now to try it out: From anywhere on your system, press the shortcut key, and there's your screen saver. Found this tip c/: www.dalleh.com Hope it works - Good Luck. |

Not sure about shortcut keys, but here are two applications which manage to turn off/on screen savers with a single click etc: Screens: A Screen-Saver Manager, available from: www.redrival.com ScrAct 1, available from: download.cnet.com(Write ScrAct into the search box) Hope this helps now :-) |

Apart from a pretty display, this function serves no real purpose on today's monitors and uses up system' resources. One may still have the screen turn off after a pre-determined idle period using the 'power management' function. For those not sure, this can be opened from the Control Panel. |
