11675 2001-04-22 08:14:00 I have 4gb hard drive, 1.2gb hard drive,1 CD-rom drive, and 1 CDRW drive in my computer..
I am having my 4.3 gb hdd on primary master, CD-rom on primary slave, 1.2 gb hdd on secondary master, and cdrw drive on secondary slave......

But i am not sure if this is the optimum setting....... If you know a better way to connect them, please let me know

11676 2001-04-22 23:56:00 Hello there Dean, My advice would be to put both the IDE drives on the primary master/slave, and the cd-rw on the secondary with the cd on the secondary slave. It works for me, also enable DMA on all drives/cd's if it's available, as it will speed up the drives access times.

Regards Fred

11677 2001-04-23 05:23:00 This is one of those things that everyone has different opinions on largley because it doesn't make any difference.

For what it's worth I'm set up the same as Dean. As IDE channels are shared (ie IDE1 primary and secondary if in use at the same time each use part of the capacity) and I most commonly copy main HDD to second HDD or Writer having them on separate channels 'should' give better performance. In reality?
