| 11753 | 2001-04-24 02:20:00 | About a week ago I installed a new motherboard (FIC VA-503A with VIA MVP3 chipset) in my ageing AT powered Cyrix M2 333mhz based machine. All went well untill last night. Following my machine suddenly telling me that it detected new hardward (which there wasn't) the system fell over. After recovering by reloading Windows 98SE it goes okay but will not shut down to the screen where it should say 'It is safe to turn off your computer', I get to a black screen and a flashing dash cursor. If I ask for a restart from the shut down options all is okay. I just can not get to the 'It is safe to turn off your computer' screen when I ask for a shut down. I have loaded the Windows 98 Shut down patch already. Any ideas? |
