I've just installed a new cd-writer. While I had the case off, and the power off, the tray to the already installed cr-rom drive opened about 2mm and now wont either open or close. The newly installed drive is working fine. Is there any way I can get the other drive's tray to either open or close? |

Have you tried straightening out a paper clip and inserting it in the small hole under the tray, to release the catch? |

Please check to make sure the power cable to the old CD wasn't dislodged when you were installing the new CD/RW.
If the power is connected, the IDE cable is connected correctly and the Master/Slave jumpers set correctly for all IDE devices, switch the PC off and just push the CD tray back in. It will feel a little tight, but unless there is a skewed CD (or the toddler has stuck a biscuit inside it), the tray should close and be ready to use next time you switch the power on. |
