| 11870 | 2001-04-27 07:18:00 | when runing dxdiag dispaly tests with dx8.0a my computer keeps locking up on the last test 'agp texture acceleration and on 3d games. i am using 'tnt2 m64'video card with lastest drivers and have a p3 450 j-791bnr2 motherboard. award bios v4.51pg. via apollo pro 691/596 chipset .128 ram . and have installed via 4in1 drivers changed the hardware acceleration down a notch reinstalled everthing but nothing seems to work i was thinking it must be to do with a setting in 'cmos' or a driver missing some were . any help would be apprwciated |

| 11871 | 2001-04-28 03:59:00 | Hi John, when you say the latest drivers for your card, do you mean they are from the manufacturer, or are you using the nvidia detonator drivers? If you havn't tried the detonator drivers yet give them a go. There are heaps of versions to choose from. there are the released drivers on the nvidia site (v6.5), then there are all the 'beta' ones that go up to version 12.0 Therefore you have a wide range of choices. You can try setting your AGP rate to 2x if it's currently on 4x. You can try turning off fast writes, and AGP 1ws reads and writes. If you get dxdiag running, I suggest you benchmark your machine with 3dmark2001 (www.madonion.com), as it will really test your system's stability. I never got fast writes and 4x AGP working together until I got my FSB to 133Mhz and set my AGP driving force to 'EA' Good luck!! |
