| 11814 | 2001-04-26 05:46:00 | Hello A friend recently formatted the hard drive and reinstalled Win95. Now his sound card ESS 1879 is working properly - it just repeatedly plays the Windows startup wav file and it doesn't stop. I removed both the Plug&Play Audiodrive and the Control Interface in the System Device Manager, rebooted and let Windows find and reinstall it. Same problem. I again removed them from the System Device Manager and then manually added them in Add New Hardware. Same problem. I used to have the earlier version (1869) of the same sound card and had the same problem in Win95 - but I fluked fixing it back then (don't know what I did that actually fixed the problem). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sharrea |

If you run win98 its included, if you run win95 you'll have to download from a web site. Place it in the windows folder and double click it. It will clean up and fix most registery problems and hopefully get your card working.. Good Luck!!! |
