11772 2001-04-25 02:25:00 My mother's modem dials, then connects, verifies user name and password and then immediately responds with 'unable to establish connection... etc'. It was ok one day then bung the next. I cannot think of anything that has changed. I share the same phone line so I set up my ISP on her machine and it still does the same. Damned if I know what has happened. Anyone able to help? Thanks Guest (0)
11773 2001-04-25 14:03:00 A quick possible fix is to try reinstalling the TCP\IP protocol, you will need the Win cd-rom or *.cab files

1/ right click the 'Network Neighbourhood' icon on the desktop,
2/ go to 'Properties',
3/ highlight 'TCP\IP',
4/ click 'Remove',
5/ click 'Add'
/ 'Protocol'
/ 'Add'
/ 'Microsoft' (on left)
/ 'TCP\IP' (on right)
6/ wait for files to copy then reboot
7/ try connecting

11774 2001-04-28 04:58:00 Hi.
I had a similar problem with direct connection modem games. Check under start>settings>controlpanel>modems>click properties and check the thing 'cancel call if not connected within [] seconds, and set it to something like 60 or turn the option off. The likelyness is that it takes longer than that time to get though conection procedure and simply cancels call.
hope this helped
