2001-04-30 22:51:00 | Hi all I have had a problem with the spell checker in Outlook express not working. I keep getting the error message: The spell checker on this document was alted. Do you whant to send it anyway. I have also had a meassage saying: An error occured while spelling was being checked. I have removed Outlook and reloaded it but it did not make any difference. Any Ideas please. I am running Outlook express 97 with Windows 95. Thanks Alan Ball

2001-05-01 12:49:00 | ...Outlook Express uses the spelling checker provided with the following Microsoft Office 95 and Office 97 programs: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint. If you do not have one of these programs installed, the Spelling command is not available. In a New Message window, click the Spelling button on the toolbar, or click the Tools menu, and then click Spelling. Tip: to customize the way your spelling checker works - click Options on the Tools menu and then select the Spelling tab.

2001-05-01 21:46:00 | Thanks for comments. I have Office 97 installed with Word & Excel, the spelling checker works fine with those but not with Outlook. Any other suggestions please. Thanks Alan

2001-05-03 00:39:00 | If anybody can answer Alan's question I for one would be very grateful. The spellcheck with Outlook Express on my computer will not work and just gives me the 'Error' message. It works with 'Word' and 'Home Publishing 2000'. The PC has been purged twice and reprogrammed but to no avail.Still it won't check spelling in Outlook Express. My computer is an H.P.Pavilion running on Windows 98.Here's hoping.

2001-05-04 23:00:00 | I have a client with similar - perhaps the same - problems. Searching MS gives this page search.microsoft.com I have detected errors in my client's Word 2000 installation (part of the Works 2000 package) At this stage I am unsure whether both the Word errors and OE spellcheck problem are related. I will try loading IE 5 (and OE) first, then doing the Word install from the Works CDs. If that doesn't solve the problem, I guess the service pack from MS is next. Juha - any chance of the sp on a future CD? -or have I missed something? Merlin

2002-10-14 10:05:00 | Don't know if this is relevent to the problems you all are haveing but I run ME and the spellchecker in OE doesn't work either. I chanced upon a letter to inbox in the herald I think it was and the reply stated that this was a known problem as there was a conflict with word and there was no remedy. Sorry I'm not more specific, its a bit fuzzy now but I recall thinking "Oh well, its just not going to work then". | Danger (287) | |
