| 11920 | 2001-04-28 22:17:00 | I am experiencing very slow data download speeds. On my 56K dial up I used to get upto 5.5 Kb/sec. Lately this has dropped to about 1 to 1.5 max and often below 1.0. Also notice many web pages are opening to about 90% then hanging for ages then down comes the last piece. (These are pages with few graphics etc). All very frustrating, where do I start look?. Is this my system (W2K, IE5.5 SP1) or is it somewhere else along the way. To the best of my knowledge I have not made any changes to the system since it was downloading at the higher speeds and pages were opening smoothly. Thanks. | Guest (0) | ||
| 11921 | 2001-04-28 23:25:00 | the web is as quick (or slow) as ever. trace your isp and see if there is a slow point between u and the isp. mayby your isp is getting to full. borrow a mates isp for the day and test it. your phonelines might have a fault, or telecom has changed their setup. cheak your lead to the phone jack is connecting properly(connections not corroded etc) get a tweaker program and cheak what the mtu rwin settings are in case a program has changed them. test and elimanate any causes.have fun |
