2012-05-01 06:46:00 | I was just doing a little research on the i7 2600K and Intel says that it can only support 1 PCI-E slot. Does that mean you can't run more than one card? It would seem a little strange if you can't run SLI or Crossfire if your CPU doesn't allow and your mobo does.:illogical Go to the link here for details: ark.intel.com

2012-05-01 07:02:00 | Im going to agree with cyabro. Have seen sli setups in computers with the 2600k as the cpu. As a slightly off topic side note: If you're thinking of getting the 2600k then dont, unless prices of the sandy bridge cpu's drop ( I assume they will a bit) the 3770k ivy bridge cpu is only $30-40ish more atm. Totally worth it. That new mobo you got should support ivy bridge with the bios update installed. The problem is, will it allow you to boot and install the upgrade with an unsupported cpu? | icow (15313) | |
2012-05-01 07:05:00 | i believe this is a spec only considered for very small mobos that do not have a southbridge chipset. Any normal ATX mobo will and this is what the pcie slots are directly connected to. | Slankydudl (16687) | |
2012-05-01 07:15:00 | That all seems to make sense. Maybe the Sandy Bridge ones will drop in price soon. I'll get the Sandy Bridge CPU as it will be a little cheaper. Thanks guys. Yeah it would be strange if you couldn't run SLI with an i7.

2012-05-01 08:45:00 | Thanks mate, I suppose it will go down more because of Ivy Bridge. Is Ivy Bridge out yet? I don't think it is. | ChazTheGeek (16619) | |
2012-05-01 09:16:00 | Yup IB is out. There's mobos and CPU's at Pbtech (pbtech.co.nz) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
