1272576 2012-04-28 22:44:00 Hi Everyone,

Were with Farmside, been so since December 2010. We have a satellite connection with them on their regular plan. We need some help and some advice and were hoping you guys can help us out.

We have connection issues.. Sometimes 4 to 5 times a day (And goodness knows how many OTHER times a day as we are not here) Were keeping a log book since the 10th of April as well. We are experiencing problems for the last 3 months now and maybe even longer..
The connection drops randomly throughout the day for about 2 to 3 minutes, sometimes longer and then automatically comes back on again.

Sometimes the connection is really really slow, like dial up speed. The TX/RX LED flashes vigorously! (But there is NO internet activity)
Last night I reset-ted the IPSTAR modem and after that things "calmed down". (were now thinking its a modem issue)

Like I have explained to Farmside we pay almost $200 a month for Internet (because we live out of town). Never had any of these issues before..
We really don't know what to do next and what are "rights" are to "chase" Farmside to fix this issue...

Anyone else having issues with the connection through Farmside?

1272577 2012-04-28 22:51:00 Have farmside done anything at all tho?? They should if youre paying 200 a mth. It may be the same cause as in this last post. If this is related to the same modem (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1272578 2012-04-28 22:55:00 Hey Speedy Mate, long time no hear... Uhmm Farmside's reply... "We will keep monitoring your connection" "We have adjusted your connection"....thats all..
Thanks for redirecting me to that post! So we have had problems since then!!! Sjeesh!

1272579 2012-04-28 23:33:00 Could it be that the satelite is slightly off the mark? I know with Sky TV that if your satelite is slight misaligned then it can be prone to rain fade or signal interferrance more than usual. Webbnzl (8810)
1272580 2012-04-29 01:36:00 Hi Webbnzl, I have no idea, I don't think it is... we are suspecting now it is the modem that is causing all the issues... If Farmside has not rang us back early next week to give us an update they can come and have a look... mark1978 (13845)
1272581 2012-04-29 04:18:00 Is it the one-port IPSTAR or the multi-port with wifi and everything router? Chilling_Silence (9)
1272582 2012-04-29 04:30:00 I have a wifi router connected to it as well... but, the issues started way before this device was connected mark1978 (13845)
1272583 2012-04-29 04:39:00 I read in another forum / an oz one the whites ones are known to crap out, because of the power adapters / blocks in/on them Speedy Gonzales (78)
1272584 2012-04-29 05:43:00 I just rang Farmside again, gave them a firm message and thanks to Speedy told them this issue has been going on since September last year and if this is not going to be resolved we will disconnect the service... They told me to disconnect my WIFI router (which is NOT the problem) and only use the modem for 3 days to see if it makes any difference.. Also they wanted me to reconnect the cables which I have done. Sooooo lets see what it does now. mark1978 (13845)
1272585 2012-04-29 06:13:00 How do you know its not the problem? Its possible its causing additional load on the router which is causing issues... Chilling_Silence (9)
