1250435 2011-12-23 20:25:00 I know it may be a bit lame, but over the years when I was a computer salesman and when I give a bit of simple tuition, we often play Freecell.

There is at least one bug in it and one option that I'd love to get MS to fix/add.

Anyone else play Freecell and have any comments?

1250436 2011-12-23 20:55:00 Which version of Windows? Vista and 7 have completely overhauled versions of FreeCell (although the basics are the same). pcuser42 (130)
1250437 2011-12-23 21:08:00 The bug I think has been there since it first came out.

It is still on Windows 7.

This is the bug.

As you know when a card(s) can be placed on the 4 build up piles it automatically puts the cards up.

But it does not do this if there is a card on the 4 cells on the top left (I need to get the correct terms for these piles)

This means that if you a relying on the game to put them up for you you may miss them.

The option I would like is to turn this automatic putting the cards up on or off.

Sometimes it is a bit of fun to put them up yourself.

I have been meaning to advise MS of these thoughts for years, but have never got a round to it.
But now I have decided to do it.

of course a personal email to Bill Gates is now out of the question.
And I am not sure where to report bugs etc.
But I will find it.

1250438 2011-12-23 22:14:00 I just tried it with game #2, and it does in fact put card from the free cells on the left to the home cells on the right, if there are no cards it can be placed on.

For example, a black 3 won't be put up automatically if there are still red 4's around, no matter where it is.

1250439 2011-12-23 22:54:00 Oh!
I had not thought of that
So they are cleverer than I thought they were (and you too!)

1250441 2011-12-24 00:27:00 Whoops, I got that the wrong way round  if no cards can be placed on a certain card (except Aces), then it is moved up. (So a black 3 would move up if there are no red 2's left) pcuser42 (130)
1250442 2011-12-24 01:01:00 cards can only go up to top as they appear exposed in their natural suit sequence Zippity (58)
1250443 2011-12-24 01:07:00 If you really want to have a play around, try with game #-4 in Vista/7 :D pcuser42 (130)
1250444 2011-12-24 02:54:00 I'm all confused now.
I have to play a few games like you suggest.

And (my suposed bug) its move over from the stage piles - Not from the main piles.
