1250403 2011-12-23 05:03:00 Remembering that our data is based on job ads that are placed during that period, it really depends on what's happening in the market at any given time. What tends to drive those high-end roles are any sort of large engineering projects or big IT project where there's a lot of recruitment.

So bullpoop.

1250404 2011-12-23 05:06:00 The average salary in Auckland is a fairly mean amount. R2x1 (4628)
1250405 2011-12-23 05:06:00 The 'survey' is complete garbage.

What they've 'surveyed' is the wages being advertised in job ads in Trademe Jobs.

So what you're seeing is an average of advertised jobs. What you're NOT seeing is a true average wage.

I seem to remember being unimpressed with a similar report from Trademe Jobs.

1250408 2011-12-23 05:40:00 If I have a stab at it maybe 60k if you are wanting average. But that can be anything. Arguably IMO Auckland has more highflyers than other major cities in NZ. So you will have the folks earning more than 150k and you will have your bus drivers and your office clerks who are earning more normal wages.

What is more impt is maybe what sort of jobs are you more interested in.
Speaking of typical office clerks, analysts in the office environment who is just a member, not team leader. IMO they might begin at 35-40k, with a some yrs experience, maybe 60-70k. A senior who does not have managerial responsibility maybe 80k.

1250411 2011-12-23 06:29:00 Yeah, bear in mind a lot of lower-paying places like fast food outlets, the warehouse etc often don't advertise - not for their base level roles anyway - so these don't get included in TradeMe's surveys. I would've guessed the actual average wage in AK to be around $50k. inphinity (7274)
