| 1273322 | 2012-05-03 10:24:00 | Also should I should be going under the wireless settings sharing to lan right? Also the dropdown box which lets me select the adapter I want to share seems to have disappeared. Looks just like this now: media.wiley.com Now getting no internet connection on the desktop (at all). This is after doing a system restore on the laptop, it was getting shitty when I tried to turn on internet sharing. System restore has let me enable network sharing again but now i get no connection, good or bad? |

| 1273323 | 2012-05-03 10:29:00 | Any third party Firewalls / set to the other IP range ? OK work Backwards -- The laptop is working and getting the IP address fromteh router fine. Do a IP config on the desktop, as plod suggested earlier on -- what is the IP Address and Gateway. The Desktop "should" be IP address 192.168.137. ? With a gateway of 192.168.137.1 ( the Laptop) The laptop should acting as a gateway when Sharing. Edited: check your settings are as described HERE (windows.microsoft.com) - also check the page /link that says 'Set up a shared Internet connection using ICS" |

| 1273324 | 2012-05-03 10:36:00 | Third party firewalls? none that I can think of. Laptop has Mcafee (think that has an inbuilt firewall?) but it has always being running mcafee. desktop is using mse and standard old windows firewall. Cannot remember setting anything that would change the ip range. Will ipconfig the desktop now. | icow (15313) |
| 1273325 | 2012-05-03 10:42:00 | Laptop has Mcafee (think that has an inbuilt firewall?) No Comment :p EXCEPT -- sometimes when things dont work as they should use the old tried and true -- rip out ALL security, so that way theres nothing stopping anything - and YES mcAfee does have a firewall, and you can bet your boots its not set to allow the IP range through the laptop ICS sharing will be using ---- 192.168.137.
