1250631 2011-12-25 21:50:00 I got a magnificent piece of technolgy for Xmas - a four slice toaster that actually cooks the toast evenly. Also has an impressive array of buttons and dials on it, but regretably doesn't connect to the internet so that I can start the toast off remotely. Twelvevolts (5457)

What??? a toaster that does not connect to the internet. What a waste of technology. Lets hope that it at least cooks toast.

What a lucky chap you are as a toaster that toasts evenly must be about as rare as hens teeth.

1250637 2011-12-26 06:32:00 After the gifts wear out, they become the ghost of Xmas presents and have to be packaged up again. This gives us boxing day. R2x1 (4628)
1250638 2011-12-26 07:49:00 Got husband one of those wee remote control helicopters.
Great, except the controller takes 6 x AA's and it won't charge the helicopter off rechargeables - too low a voltage - they need to be 1.5v.

Anyone modified them? I was thinking maybe it can be dismantled and arranged to have a 9v rechargeable instead. Slightly over buying batteries now...

Except just as the rechargeable cells are only 1.2v, a rechargeable 9v battery is actually only 7.2v.

I would go for a mains-based charging solution... surprised it doesn't have one already.
