wainuitech already covered this - i.e the real world is different to a lab. Interesting though, particularly malwarebytes

1273154 2012-05-29 05:06:00 If you get that from 'downloading stuff' you're doing it wrong...
He may be doing it right if he wants popups etc.:D

1273155 2012-05-29 10:02:00 AVG may be fast at scanning, but it makes you computer slow to a crawl at all other times. Greven (91)

As for the AVG article being #1 ---- tell that to many people who get badly infected and have AVG.As for fast scanning times - yeah any AV will scan faster in "quick Scan" mode, also miss a lot of infections as well.

Had someone today that had just upgrade to the business edition of AVG and didn't want to change. They were complaining about how slow the PC was. Vista with only 1gig and the on board video using some of that.

They got it from a shop here I would have thought would have built themselves but is a Compaq. They payed way too much for what they got.

1273160 2012-05-29 21:23:00 Vista with one gig? I'm surprised it ran at all. Nick G (16709)
1273161 2012-05-29 21:28:00 have to agree, AVG in the days of Win95/98/ME was probably a good product though as time has gone by, just like Nortons, it has become bloated and wants to take control of your system.

MSE is what we have installed on every system we are running, would suggest MSE to anyone.

Yeah, we've also got one gig of ram and avg 2012 full on our laptop. It takes about 10-20min to fully start up and stop laging and freezing so you can acctually run something.
