1272586 2012-04-29 06:27:00 Because the connection issues started way before I got the WIFI router.. mark1978 (13845)
1272587 2012-04-29 07:04:00 Hey, being a sat dish and running over coax this is the first place I would check. I have used ipstar's quite a bit for some pretty heavy duty traffic over the standard single port modem so it is capable when it's working. First I would check the dish alignment with iUAT. Have you used this? It's the alignment tool for the ipstar dish. If signal is good then it's likely the modem. Also check the coax itself and the connections. Spray with contact cleaner if you have it, then with WD40 or similar for weatherproofing. Still no joy, I'd ask for a firmware update for modem and failing that or still no joy then a new modem! jackM (14814)
1272588 2012-04-29 23:40:00 Where I'm working at the moment they have one of the newer white IPSTAR modems and it is a pain. Have to hit Try Again several times every now and again. Farmside have checked the satellite alignment without a problem. They had changed their DNS servers without updating the modem but when they corrected that it didn't really make any difference. My brother had one of the older black modems and didn't have any problems so I am inclined to think that it is the modem itself. The strange thing is Google Chrome has fewer problems than Firefox according to the owner. mikebartnz (21)
1272589 2012-05-15 09:21:00 If your problem is similar to my post #13 and you use Firefox type about:config in the url bar clicking Ok you'll be careful and in the search box type in network.dns.disableIPv6 then set to true and in Thunderbird go to Tools/Options/Advanced and click on Config Editor and do the same.
Have just done that on the one I mentioned in post #13 and it appears to have fixed the problem but will know more in a couple of days.

1272591 2012-05-16 21:15:00 Could it be that the satelite is slightly off the mark? I know with Sky TV that if your satelite is slight misaligned then it can be prone to rain fade or signal interferrance more than usual.
Once set they don't move. It's bolted in place.
More likely modem, cable, software and so on.

Farmside is notorious for this. Sack them and go with one of the other Ipstar resellers, there's plenty around. If the bleat about the contract remind them they are breaching it by not fixing the issue.

Although you will have to play the game, remove the router and so on to prove it's not your end.

I was doing a bit of research yesterday and I only found WirelessNation and couldn't find on their site what satellite modem they used(I suspected the IPStar), in fact there was very little information on their site at all.
So I would like to know who some of the others are.

1272593 2012-05-17 01:08:00 Didn't look hard:

Been there and so far have only found Wireless Nation and NatCom, all the rest are just Farmside resellers.
