1273205 2012-05-02 05:07:00 Wife works for a non profit organisation and they are looking at getting another laptop, have no idea of what price range their thinking and it will be used solely for MS office and websurfing, what recommendations.

Decent speed but obviously not obscene gaming speed,
full keyboard for touch typists pref with No pad but not essential
decent screen

1273206 2012-05-02 05:17:00 Toshiba Pro c665?
And I'd think around $1000 would do it

1273208 2012-05-02 07:10:00 I assume they will be purchasing MS Office from TechSoup? Greven (91)
1273209 2012-05-02 07:34:00 I have no idea about purchasing office at this stage as they are non profit but not an educational institution gary67 (56)
1273210 2012-05-02 10:05:00 I would take one of these over the Toshiba C665:

You mentioned decent screen so I would go with that. Non profit get cheap office licences if they meet certain criteria. (not sure what it actually is sorry)

www.pbtech.co.nz wouldn't! Only 320Gb HDD & only 1yr warrenty, coupled with the fact I have had four dead HP lappies come in in just the last week but at least a month since I've repaired a Toshiba for hardware faults and I would say there are just as many of them around IMO.

1273213 2012-05-02 23:00:00 HP business laptops are very reliable. I would take one over that Satellite Pro any day, Toshiba have their share of hardware faults like any one else. I would upgrade to the 3 year warranty all the same. Alex B (15479)
1273214 2012-05-02 23:30:00 I wouldn't! Only 320Gb HDD & only 1yr warrenty, coupled with the fact I have had four dead HP lappies come in in just the last week but at least a month since I've repaired a Toshiba for hardware faults and I would say there are just as many of them around IMO.

Yea were these HP laptops consumer or business models?
We sell a ton of the HP business laptops and can't remember the last time we had one in with a hardware issue.
However the HP cosumer laptops are taking up all our storage space with dead units that we keep around for spare screens etc!
We have had quite a few of the cheap Toshiba's come in with various hardware faults too.

A 320GB HDD is ample space for someone who is just looking to use MS office and the internet.
