| 1272439 | 2012-04-28 02:51:00 | Exactly that, I am looking to purchase a new machine soonish and am waiting for Ivy Bridge builds to become available in shops. Any ideas on when that will actually be? My cunning plan was to get an ivy bridge build (provided the price isn't too much more than sandy) and use the onboard graphics which is better and should meet my needs, and then when the machine starts to feel slow in a few years get a graphics card. |

They are doing a midnight release: www.computerlounge.co.nz Seem to need a login for that link, but that was one of the places i had looked Just for future reference, if you want to know when a cpu is released by intel go to ark.intel.com Its not about when Intel releases them for me as thats been all over the net at the moment, its when they are actually available for purchase to the end user in New Zealand, as sometimes things here take a while longer. |

| 1272445 | 2012-04-28 10:48:00 | My supplier is listing them- but showing none in stock, so will probably order as required, unless they are going to wait for the 29th release date also before showing them as instock. Thing is, is it all really worth it, Intel have already tested a new processor they have been working on and plan to release it June 2013, it will be a different socket (1150), so will make the Ivy Bridge processors pretty short lived. |

| 1272448 | 2012-04-28 11:46:00 | I'm going to say at the mid level the difference between sandy and ivy will be slim. High level not so much, ivy should beat the pants off the old sandy bridge cpu's. Imo 2011 socket will still stay king (sandy-e?). This "new" cpu in 2013 should be like what the sandy bridge did to the bulldozer. Problem is AMD has pulled out of the high end cpu market so Intel has no competitors and therefore no reason to spend big on R & D like they have been. | icow (15313) | ||
