| 1250448 | 2011-12-23 22:19:00 | I did some research on air mileage programmes given that AirNZ is so poor, plan to switch. Admittedly, most people on the net are from the USA. They rack up a lot of air miles and belong to various hotels groups like Marriott or Hilton. I am wondering if that is the American thing? When I organised corporate flights and accommodation for people, certain hotels were not allowed to be booked. I understand these matters have their perks like if you are a frequent customer. I may have simple needs but if it was something I didn't pay more and it was not offered to me, I find it inappropriate to ask for an "upgrade". Like a larger room or an upgrade to business class but many of these professionals do ask for them and some even get a annoyed if they don't get it. Between. I don't look for status, I find that too helpful, it's a fake. I just like to go abroad experience a new culture, a diff setting from NZ and after a few times get a free reward ticket. I mean like the hotels, I like those who let you go to your room by yourself first and then later someone takes up your stuff. To me a lot better someone walking you to the room, and teaching you how to turn the lights on or flush the toilet (!). And I am there thinking, oh man, how long can I put up with this show and show him/her that I am near cracking point. I bet those workers are not paid as well as how they pretend on their job. One time I flew back on business due to late flight change during the Christmas time. I felt so uncomfortable. The food was better but not that great. It was like even if I paid for it, I would like to swap with someone in economy. I don't mind the extra space, v slightly better food, but it felt like I was in a conference. When I boarded the gate the lady called me sir, in front of the other econ passengers, sigh ... that threw me back a bit. In econ, I can talk to parents and their children. It feels normal. I have a interest in travel and aviation. So I find the flight crew also more willing to talk things about like life in a airline job. |
