What is always on the table? food wise.....pork? ham? turkey? what puddings?

What do you or your other half make?

got to do some cooking today and trying to think of a cold pudding that is not pavlova...........already have one of those....lol

or maybe even not a christmas oriented food but something scrumptious to eat at any time...:p

come on peoples get ya thinking caps on what scruptious things are a must have?!?

1250450 2011-12-23 21:13:00 cheap wine. Metla (12)
1250451 2011-12-23 21:13:00 Normally on our table is the spuds, roast chicken (or turkey or occasionally both), ham, and Mums trifle for dessert.

I suspect this year will be a bit better than most as I just bought SWMBO her very first food processor for her birthday which was 2 days ago - (she has been dropping hints for over a year but I could never afford it before).
Next thing she grabs my card and goes grocery shopping :D

My old work gave me 4 bottles of Wine (the Asti is mine!!!) and other goodies as a thank you for coming back and helping them in their time of need. I think they felt guilty we all got laid off and I had only been back 4 months.

1250453 2011-12-23 21:45:00 Simple Roast Pork and Trifle. Plus touch of Rarotongan food (puke - a banana dessert and
"minus" potato salad is what she names it) from daughter in-law.

1250454 2011-12-23 21:56:00 We're not having an actual Xmas meal.

Last night I made:
Smoked fish kind of scotch eggs - and some hollandaise sauce
Home made pate
Crostini things, crunchy, for the pate
Cheese crisps - cook grated cheese with a bit of poppy seed - so you get browned crispy flat things
Stuffed tomatoes
Chilli and lime chicken pieces
Bacon and mushroom vol-u-vents

Son got a ham from work, so I cut a piece off (froze the rest), and put in the fridge

And picked strawberries this morning, so it all goes in the fridge or pantry for snacking if and when anyone feels like it. Or not. Today and tomorrow.

Oh and there's a box of chocs, mostly for grandchild when she comes Monday, although we've had a few...

1250455 2011-12-23 22:05:00 Just a oriental dinner, not that v Christmas. The roast, the prawns, a stirfry and a soup etc .. No dessert as usual.
We do buy a ham from the butcher who smokes it himself than the stuff at the supermarket but they are not into the glazing and roasting part.
