12121 2001-05-03 11:29:00 I am considering upgrading my printer (currently an HP400) primarily for my kids' school projects. While I realise HP is quite an excellent brand, one of my considerations is consumables ie ink. Haven't come across too many reviews of Canon printers with separate colour inktanks. Anybody out there with feedback on Canon 3xxx and 5xxx models? Guest (0)
12122 2001-05-04 09:00:00 I sell a lot of printers in my line of work and I recommend the Canon every time.

The seperate ink tanks probably won't make a huge difference to the economics of it. However, the Canon will still be more economical to run because you don't have to replace the print head every time you replace the cartridges; you only replace it when you need it. Overall, this results in much cheaper ink.

Also, Canon seem to generally have a better record for quality, reliability and backup than HP does.

There's not much between them, but I would definately go for the Canon. Just be aware that Canon will soon be replacing the BJC-3000 with a new model, so if your local store hasn't yet discounted this model, then wait for the new one. The BJC-2100 will remain in the product line.

12123 2001-05-06 09:31:00 I have gone over to Cannon printers as the ink cartridges refill more times and are less prone to failure than the HP type (the design of the head is quite different) My printers use the BC-01 to BC-03 type. Guest (0)
