| 12147 | 2001-05-04 01:20:00 | I have managed to lose my menus and my toolbars on MSWORD (from MS Office 2000). Don't ask me how I did it. All I have is a ruler at the top of the page, and a ruler on the left margin. I did manage to reconstruct a customized toolbar, but it disappeared when I hit the 'Close' button. The 'helps' claim that you cannot hide the menu. But I can assure you that my menus are well hidden! Since I rarely used shortcuts, I'm feeling pretty helpless as I can't DO anything in Word. Actually, the shortcuts using the <ctrl> key work, but the shortcuts using the <Alt> key do not work. So, I can print using <Ctrl> + P. But <Alt> + V will not give me a View menu. Any ideas? I thought that re-installing WORD would surely solve the problem, but it didn't! Maybe I needed to remove the icons from my desktop? Most grateful for any help. Thanks, John |

The problem was that I couldn't access VIEW because I didn't have a menu. But for some strange reason, an 'Auto text' toolbar appeared, and from that I was able to get to click on toolbars. However, only THREE toolbars were offered. So I had to customize a toolbar which I named Standard, and I was able to get all of the menu on it. It was a tremendous relief. Thanks again for responding to my query. John |
