12038 2001-05-01 03:02:00 I have been thinking of changing isp's, and I would like to know if anybody has used Inet (Christchurch), Paradise, or the new ones that you pay for that used to be free. Would welcome comments about any or all, as they are what I have decided to go for. Well one of the above anyway. TIA Guest (0)
12039 2001-05-01 04:51:00 Hi, I don't know which ISP you are with, but I have used Ihug and a few others, and found that not many live up to expectations. I am now with Hyper Networks www.hyper.net.nz and they are excellent. They started in Dunedin but have now moved to Christchurch. I have never had any problems with them and their helpdesk is open 24/7. They have had the best download & upload speeds so far, and they do hi speed as well. Hope this will be of help.

Regards Fred

12040 2001-05-01 09:04:00 I was on clear but it is very hard to get on at times so changed to Paradise. I always get on instantly I have never been knocked off (even when I left it connected all night once inadvertantly) and for 10hours for $10 or 250 hours for $20 it is a good deal Bob Guest (0)
12041 2001-05-01 11:09:00 I am with XTRA ($24.95 unlimited Value Pack). I have never ever got any busy signals. Very good help desk and fast speeds make Xtra the best ISP (at least for me). Download speeds never go below 5.5kb/s I usually get 7-8kb/s when downloading from sites like McAfee.com
On my 56k V.90 modem i usually get 51,333bps connections (Never below 48,000bps so far and highest being 54,666bps for me)

12042 2001-05-01 12:37:00 ...i use Actrix, New Zealand's oldest ISP: http://www.actrix.gen.nz

A full range of services with competitive pricing options (including free web mail & your own personal website), no disconnects, speeds between 49,999 - 53,999 on my 56Kb V90 modem ~ and a monthly newsletter with useful stuff for newbies which you can view here: http://editor.actrix.co.nz/

...no doubt all this input has only added to your confusion (!!!)

12043 2001-05-01 23:19:00 Slingshot has taken i4free's clients of which I was one. A slingshot account cost's only $14.95 a month unlimited, and you can have several different email addresses with them as well. Check out their web site -www.slingshot.co.nz - and see for yourself. Guest (0)
12044 2001-05-03 00:57:00 I connect with Ihug on the NZwide dialup, always get connected at 115200 on my dynalink 56/v.90 modem. downloads at 4.8-6.0K consistantly. good service but a little pricy unless you go to the unlimited access account. Guest (0)
12045 2001-05-04 00:41:00 Thanks for all the info guys, and rather than add to my confusion, it actually has helped. I didn't want to sign up to one, then find that they weren't up to scratch. So with satisfied customers, that definately does help. Guest (0)
