12268 2001-05-07 07:18:00 The floppy disc drive on my computer keeps on looking for a disc just after start-up or if you move the mouse pointer over the documents folder in the start menu. My computer is running windows ME.

Any Ideas????

12269 2001-05-07 11:17:00 Can happen with Virus checking software.
But in you case probably a hangup from opening a file a A drive.
Try clearing your Doc's menu.
( task bar properties, 2nd tab)
Try puting in a floppy - any error boxes ?
Also you can change your boot order in BIOS from A,C to C,A.

12270 2001-05-07 14:11:00 If you have had your computer apart recently, or it has done this from new, I would suspect the floppy drive ribbon is conncted the wrong way round on the floppy disk drive or motherboard. Guest (0)
12271 2001-05-08 08:22:00 Ian - Firstly apologies if this seems way too basic but you never know unless you try eh. What you descibe can happen if your computer is trying to update its document menu on startup,(or when your mouse is near it etc) I had a similar problem and it was solved simply by clearing the Documents area on the Start Menu: So unless you have done this already, try the following:
Start\Settings\Taskbar&StartMenu\StartMenuPrograms, and in the Documents Menu area click the Clear button. Hope this helps.

Something as simple as the document history. Guess you never think of the simple fixes first. Gotta love windows
