12395 2001-05-09 22:26:00 Some (old) software from Win3.1 days used to run fine under Win98SE/IE5.5/DirectX7a.

I recently upgraded from IE5.5 to IE5.5SP1 and from DirectX7a to DirectX8.

Now three Win3.1 titles all give the 'blue screen of death' and the message 'A fatal exception 0E has occurred at 017F:BFF9DFFF'.

Can't be 100% sure that upgrade caused problem. Any ideas?

Don't know if this will help, could be a legacy conflict but worth a try.

12397 2001-05-11 01:04:00 Thanks for the advice, however my Device Manager reports no problems.

Microsoft NZ say that trying to run software written for Win3.1 on Win98SE is like putting a Model-T Ford motor into a Ferrari - they were not really interested.

My point was that this software had previously worked fine on Win98SE and the problem only seems to exist since I updated to IE5.5SP1 and DirectX8.
