12528 2001-05-13 03:36:00 When trying to retrieve an Excel file it reads:
File format is not valid
The name appears correct, reading .xls, but unable to access it. Tried retrieving another Excel file, was ok. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Check that you are using a compatible version of Excel. If your version is lower than the one that has been used to create it you will get an invalid format error. Excel 97 and 2000 use compatible file formats, however these files can not be read by the older Excel 95 or prior versions. Either get a filter to import the new version or have the file saved to a format that the older version can read, do this using the save as file type box when saving files. If both versions are the same then try getting another copy, the file may have been corrupted during transfer between systems.
