12412 2001-05-10 09:48:00 Hi

I just signed up to Ihugs Gold plan and am a little worried with the internet connection speeds. I am getting speeds of about 21,000bps. Is this the norm? At my friends place he has ZFree and he's getting connection speeds of 49,000bps. I thought pays where faster. I also get disconnected without warning and can't go on msn messenger for more than 5mins. This is very fusstrating. I didn't want to e-mail Ihug directly incase I offened them. Please send so information on whether to get another ISP or hang in there.

12413 2001-05-10 10:15:00 This is rather low, i get connections at 115200 almost allthe time, and never drops below 4400. I am on the Ihug nzwide dialup. But it could be your telephone line or extension cords or premise wiring. Suggest you get telecom to test your line for excessive noise before proceeding to Ihug (free service) if it is in limits chane modem cable, then contact ihug. Guest (0)

There r much better isp's out there.

12415 2001-05-10 22:55:00 You might also want to check your modem properties (Control Panel > Modems > double-click on your modem to get the properties window - sorry if my instructions are wrong, i'm not infront of a machine with a modem so can't tell you exactly!) and make sure your connection speed is set to 115200.

I've noticed that Ihug has been rather sluggish lately though, so it could just be a temporary thing.

12416 2001-05-12 09:13:00 OFFEND THEM! You'r paying good money for top service and your not getting it. I'm sure IHUG would rather you phoned their help desk than walked, besides thats what a help desk is for, they are the experts. OK if they fall down and can't fix it complain loudly and then walk! Your speed is very low and it may be you have connection problems as indicated by the disconnections. Try disconnecting all other phones on the circuit, double check your comp connections(no long extension cords) see if that makes a difference. Try phoneing a friend and listen in silence to hear any buzzing or crackle on the line, if you suspect the phone lines Telecom can do a test to determine the amount of noise and fix it if necessary.
