12648	2001-05-15 07:27:00	Is there an easy way to password protect a floppy disc without having to have passwords for all files etc. I wish to have some private information stored on floppy and be able to use it in other computers but only accessable by me.	Guest (0)
12649	2001-05-15 08:36:00	The most convenient and practical way I find to password protect floppies is to use WinZip. Once the archive is created for whichever files you decide to password protect you can view/edit your files on the fly right inside WinZip, just like using a folder. This is great for security reasons because you don't have to extract to the desktop etc for editing, which would then present you with the problem of safe deletion of that file, possibly on someone elses computer. Another practical advantage of using a zip utility is that you have much more space on the floppy for extra files. 12651	2001-05-16 09:57:00	...or, you could try this: (i) Right-click on an empty space in a folder and select CUSTOMIZE THIS FOLDER, then choose CREATE HTML DOCUMENT FOR THIS FOLDER. (ii) Once the document is opened in Notepad, scroll down until you see <script language='JavaScript''> -- hit [ENTER] to insert a blank line after this string. (iii) Now, insert the following text (with hard carriage returns where noted): var pass = prompt('Enter the password') [ENTER] if(pass != 'YOURPASSWORD') [ENTER] {window.location='C:'} [ENTER]. (iv) Put a password in the place of YOURPASSWORD but leave the quotes. (v) Save the document, exit Notepad, refresh the folder (hit F5), enter your new password, and the next time you try to enter that folder, you'll be prompted for your password.
