12742 2001-05-17 07:47:00 I have heard about a card that Slot A cpus can fit on which lets them slot in to a Slot 1 motherboard. Is this true? Even if I could so this, I wouldn't be able to put in a higher processor than it says in the motherboard manual? Thanks Guest (0)
12743 2001-05-17 12:04:00 slot a to slot 1 ???? i doubt it. the most commen slocket would be socket 370 to slot 1. you can put in higher speed processors than what the manual says but you need a bios to suit. often you will need to check with the manafacture for an updated bios.(please note this is not always true. sometimes the earlier bios will work and the upgraded ones wont).sometimes the cpu may not be reconised properly but will work as it should.
there is a huge array of devices on the market that will fit later cpus to old motherboards but be carefull, it may be cheaper and easier to get a new motherboard.
