12686 2001-05-16 08:15:00 I have set up user passworded logons with windows 98 family logons. These passwords work fine but if someone hits the esc key the password logon is by passed and you are logged on as the default user thus nulifying the reason for the password protection to the computer. Can I delete the default user logon so then they have to put in the correct password to access the computer. If so how do I do this? Guest (0)
12687 2001-05-16 12:24:00 No you can't stop entry to Win98 using the esc key. The password system is primarily designed to give custom desktop settings for each user.

The best way to password protect your computer is using the options available in its BIOS.

12688 2001-05-16 14:09:00 ...you may increase your system's security in this regard using the 'System's Policy Editor' which will be on your original WIN98 installation disc.

To understand how this functions and obtain instructions, insert your CD and in Windows Explorer go:

D > tools > reskit > help and double-click on the 'rk 98book.chm' file and then enlarge to full screen.

On the Contents Tab click 'System Policies' and read the extensive help that is available.
