| 12689 | 2001-05-16 05:56:00 | I recently installed a copy of open linux caldera edesktop 2.4 on a seperat 10G hd on my PC. now i want to change flavours of linux to mandrake 7.2. I know that if I just reformat the hd with caldera on it nothing will boot at all(I know from experence). Caldera makes an entry into the MBR so that you can decide using its selection screen which OS to boot. So I need to know how to edit the MBA to remove this entry and boot into windows so i can install mandrake. And no unfortunatly I cant just install mandrake over caldera. Thanks James |

Restart the computer using the boot disk, at the DOS prompt type fdisk /mbr, this will restore a copy of the master boot record. To make the system bootable form the hard disk you will still have to transfer system files, do this by typing sys c: at the a:> prompt. |
